Job Overview

A Customer Account Manager is responsible for the growth and development of a portfolio of customer accounts across all modes of transportation. They manage the business by handling all account responsibilities applicable to the customer relationship and account management. They also work towards developing a long-term relationship at multiple levels within the customers' organization. They work with customers to identify continuous improvement initiatives and stay accountable to performance metrics. They are responsible for generating profitable revenue by actively soliciting and engaging lapsed customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for growing volume and profitable revenue within their assigned portfolio of customers through customer relationship building, quarterly business reviews, and general account development activities, along with actively soliciting and engaging lapsed customers through cold selling tactics.
  • Provides leadership and subject matter expertise on customer’s operations-related matters. Serves as the primary point of escalation for operational opportunities that cannot be resolved by the customer operations team, including but not limited to trailer par management, on-time pick-up or delivery, accessorial charges and billing, invoice, and claims issues.
  • Engages face-to-face with customers through headquarter calls and on-site facility visits to provide continuous improvement collaboration, deepen and grow business partnerships, and generate incremental opportunities that will drive profitable revenue. 30% travel required.
  • Partners with internal departments include Managed Transportation, Asset Planning, Finance, and Field Operations to optimize service and cost for customers and Red Classic.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge acquired through 3 to 5 years of work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years Customer Account Management/Selling experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years Transportation/Logistics experience preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain, or Sales Marketing is preferred

Work Environment

Normal office environment, some warehouse, and manufacturing plant exposure (noisy conditions, extreme temperatures)
