Job Overview

The Category Management Director is accountable for implementation of Coca-Cola Consolidated commercial strategies across the four components – Shopper Insights, Portfolio Strategy, Sustaining Look of Success and Thematic Retail Promotions across Coca-Cola Consolidated largest customer base. The Director works in a customer team environment to uncover and understand the objectives of the customer while utilizing available tools and resources to advance problem-solving, channel-specific commercial strategies. The Director uses advanced analytical and presentation skills to develop customer-facing, category-centric selling materials designed to achieve desired objectives. He/she represents an agnostic category advisory view to adjust the customer on category-centric growth strategies. The Director obtains a deep understanding of the customer’s unique shopper base and utilizes that knowledge to generate fact-based commercial recommendations during executive category reviews for each beverage category. He/she is responsible for capturing and reporting KPIs related to the selling and execution of CCCI’s channel-specific commercial strategies during internal executive reviews.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilize shopper and category insights to develop customer-facing analyses that support key channel-specific commercial strategies and drive performance against agreed upon annual business objectives. Create and deliver professional and influential selling materials that highlight customer benefits during key category review periods. In conjunction with the customer team, present insights and recommendations directly to the customer to achieve mutual objectives.
  • Advise customer on total beverage category performance and trends. Build credibility with the customer with thorough category analyses that provide recommendations for category growth opportunities.
  • Obtain a thorough understanding of the details and nuances of the channel-specific commercial strategies and tactics across all four components of the commercial plan. This includes the annual commercial plan and ongoing initiatives throughout the calendar year.
  • Manage the KPI scorecard against the selling and execution of CCCI’s channel-specific commercial strategies. Utilize tools and resources to track progress against commercial strategy implementation with customer base and represent that progress during key internal management routines and reviews.
  • Collaborate with all cross-functional roles that support the customer base. Align on objectives, strategies and tactics needed to achieve the annual business plan. Utilize all available resources to achieve agreed upon metrics through implementation of the channel-specific commercial strategies.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • 7-10 Years Category Management experience with a CPG company
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with syndicated data (Nielsen/IRI)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint Skills
  • Proven presentation and communication abilities with both external (customers) and internal partners
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to work as a team to accomplish mutual objective

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge acquired through 7 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four Year Degree in Marketing, Finance or General Business

Work Environment

  • Normal office environment, some warehouse, and manufacturing plant exposure (noisy conditions, extreme temperatures)
