Additional Relevant Information: Class A CDL, training background, will provide support for Corpus Christi and Laredo as well.

Compensation: Up to $32.79 / hour based on experience. Additional local incentives may apply such as an extra week of pay, referral bonuses and more.

 

General Purpose

Responsible for conducting Driver Training for both CMV and Non-CMV associates that operate CCSWB equipment to include; Defensive Driving, Hours of Service, Driver Cameras, ELD Devices, Pre/Post Trip Inspections, Roadside Inspections, Road Tests, and Post Accident follow up targeted to the specific root causes.  Driver Trainers will be responsible for evaluating Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) and Non- CMV drivers to ensure they meet CCSWB minimum qualifications.  Provide training and materials to current employees, with 6 months or more of tenure at CCSWB, to help them in preparation for attending an accredited Truck Driver Training School.  Responsible for performing HOS, Driver Camera, and Pre-trip yard audits to stay in compliance with state & federal regulations and CCSWB standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Provide training and materials to current employees, with 6 months or more of tenure at CCSWB, to help them in preparation for attending an accredited Truck Driver Training School.
•    Evaluation of all CMV and Non-CMV drivers for compliance with CCSWB policies.
•    Completion of a DOT road test prior to allowing drivers to operate a CMV for CCSWB.
•    Prepare classroom, vehicles, and yard area for hands on demonstration of class activities.
•    Establish and communicate clear learning objectives and instruct/monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
•    Encourage and monitor student performance.
•    Prepare required reports on students, activities, and LMS completion.
•    Communicate necessary information regularly to students and colleagues regarding student progress and student needs.
•    Training classes for Defensive Driving (Pre-Start) and Post Collision Incidents.
•    Truck Jockey Training for warehouse associates that move vehicles.
•    CMV and Non-CMV training, which includes: (Pre/Post Trip, Backing Skills, Road Skills, etc.)
•    Responsible for completing and maintaining Driver Qualification Files (CMV & Non-CMV drivers).
•    Provide HOS Log / ELD training. (FMCSA Standards)
•    Monitoring and auditing Hours of Service and DVIR’s to meet state & federal compliance regulations.
•    Provide safety training for equipment used for daily activities, (Liftgate, cool-lifts, pallet jacks, etc.)
•    Conduct IRC meetings (accident reviews) and facilitate IRC calls to help develop a better safety culture.
•    Review JHA as part of IRC meetings to make sure all hazards are evaluated and minimize the risk.
•    Review HOS violations on the weekly report and follow up with remedial instruction.
•    Review near miss and violation events identified by Driver Cameras and follow up with targeted driver instruction.
•    Ensure coaching is completed by supervisors for identified events in the Driver Camera system.
•    Provide reports and actions to business leaders to include, but not limited to the following: Driver Cameras, HOS, Driver Qualification Files, Incident Claims Tracker, Audits, etc.

•    Investigate events identified by Truce and follow up on targeted driver and people leader instruction related to corrective action.
•    Conduct post-accident training and complete a road test evaluation for all drivers involved in preventable accidents.
•    Driver trainers will notify safety and HR of any drivers that are a safety concern, not recommend for further training, or a driving position.
•    Assist in identifying and correcting equipment issues found during pre, post, or other routine inspections.
•    Provide coverage as necessary and according to business demand to include working overtime, evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts (days and times).
•    Perform other assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of experience as a CDL qualified CMV driver.
  • Zero preventable accidents in the previous 36 months.
  • Zero motor vehicle violations in the previous 36 months.
  • Maintains FMCSA compliance with CDL, HOS, Roadside Inspections, and Pre/Post Trip inspections.
  • Good work history free of attendance and/or disciplinary issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Analyze training needs and give feedback to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skill, and ability in the following areas: Sales Merchandising, Driver merchandising, Cooler Movers, Field Service, Full Service, and Transport / Bulk functions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills to include, but not limited to the following; Word, Excel, and Power Point.
