General Purpose
The Principal Engineer manages equipment strategy and large capital project initiatives across multiple facilities, including product or package commercialization projects. They are also responsible for executing evaluation and production testing of new technology that supports CCSWB objectives and goals. The Principal Engineer provides technical support, project management, and leadership in beverage manufacturing systems, equipment and processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluates equipment strategy and specifications to meet business needs; communicates them to internal stakeholders and equipment manufacturers. Supports the selection/improvement of new and existing equipment and processes required to achieve CCSWB strategies.
- Development of project plans, creation of budget, coordination of vendors, and execution of Facilities and Mfg Equipment projects from conception through start-up and commissioning at agreed performance levels (time, cost, line performance, etc.).
- Analyze equipment and operations performance data to identify opportunities to value engineer equipment solutions to meet business needs while optimizing both cost and flexibility.
- Lead the development of equipment strategies - agreeing to programs, priorities, and timing with the Supply Chain team.
- Seek out and engage equipment/process subject matter experts within Engineering and in industry to vet new technical solutions
- Manage regular communication routines with plant teams to insure alignment and awareness
- Establish 5-year capital plans, collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Manage capital spend, tracking and forecasting.
- Weekly communication of all project progress and execution
- Collaborate with Quality, Safety, Environmental, Facilities, Procurement, Legal, Operational Excellence, and others to ensure detailed project scopes are captured and executed, including successful project execution and hand-off.
- Partner with PSS Strategy to ensure consistent vision for business case development.
- Provide expertise in equipment, machinery operation, manufacturing, etc. for thermal, water, food service, dairy, aseptic and sparkling platforms to ensure operating efficiencies at production sites.
- Lead and facilitate development of equipment solutions to support product and package initiatives.
- Manage teams of internal and external stakeholders in addition to working as an individual contributor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering or related discipline
- Master’s preferred.
- 7 – 10 years of manufacturing and engineering experience in beverage, food, aseptic, or dairy manufacturing environments required.
- 5 years leading capital investment projects from concept to implementation including financial justifications, technology selections, and execution.
