Data Scientist

General Purpose

Data Scientist | This role will support CCSWB's Advanced Analytics strategy and roadmap by designing, developing and implementing Advanced Analytics models that have an impact of increasing sales, reducing costs, or optimizing the use of our assets in all of our business units.  
This role will work with a team that has the following overall objectives: 

• Develop, implement, update, operate and improve the predictive and prescriptive models of the organization's processes. 
• Serve as agents of change and catalysts for digital and analytical transformation
• Support, guide and suggest analysis and methodologies for the exploration of specific process data to different stakeholder. 
• Align the models and solutions to the main business indicators that generate value for the organization. 
• Ensure greater cost and impact efficiency of advanced analytics solutions
   

Duties and Responsibilities

• Help guide evaluation of Advanced Analytics use cases/projects and define requirements for models
• Evaluate and suggest improvements for current models developed by external vendors
• Evaluate current and future Use Case vendors and make recommendations
• Act as a change agent to demystify Data Science (Cultural Change)
• Create valuable, transformative business strategies through the measurement, manipulation, reporting and dissemination of broad sets of data.
• Recommend enhancements and modifications to optimize business intelligence /Advanced Analytics capabilities.
• Apply and advise on state-of-the-art advanced analytic and quantitative tools and modeling techniques in order to derive business insights, solve complex business problems and improve decisions
• Maintain and ensure that documentation, deliverables, and governance follows the CCSWB PMO standard architecture management process and delivers expected results.
• Collaborate closely with internal and external teams to understand and apply changes/modifications to deliver maximum business benefit for reporting / data warehousing capabilities.
• Engages with Business counterparts in order to remain informed on business objectives and priorities.
• May be expected to deliver programs/projects that cross functional client areas and have more than one business sponsor, representing different business functions.
• Serves as a subject matter expert in the solutions and capabilities for area(s) of responsibility.
• Provides subject matter expert input into the Development of a multi-year Advanced Analytics Roadmap
• Maintains positive and trusted working relationships with all business and internal stakeholders.
• Strong communications skills and ability to communicate analytical and technical content in an easy to understand way
• Intellectual curiosity, along with excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field like Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field required.
• Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) preferred
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on data analysis experience
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, R, SAS, SPSS or other statistical packages
• Advanced knowledge of wide range of statistical and data mining techniques (regression, decision trees, clustering, neural networks, etc.)
• Experience in working with large datasets in relational and distributed databases
• Knowledge of additional programming languages is a plus (Python, Java etc.)
