Minimum Salary: $95,000.00

Maximum Salary: $115,000.00

Summary

This position is responsible to ensure performance to plan against quantified objectives including cost, customer service, safety, asset utilization and productivity.  Responsible for facilitating action plans required for successful execution of goals through standard key performance indicators, monthly operating reviews and to take timely corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement in all transportation strategies and tactics.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively measure and manage on-time cost effective movement for all company owned transportation activates including select inbound raw materials from suppliers to plant, finished goods between plants and distribution centers, select customer direct ship and the return of dunnage to plants and suppliers as needed.
  • Oversee the effective execution of an inbound and outbound transportation program that maximizes asset utilization and vehicle capacity through company owned and operated equipment while meeting service requirements between select suppliers, plants, distribution centers and select customers.
  • Ensure compliance to safety, regulatory, compliance, and DOT requirements for all company owned and operating vehicles and associated drivers relative to hours of service, clean driving record, legal load limits
  • Develop and standardize specifications for company owned equipment in conjunction with market execution imperatives, procurement, safety, fleet  and Transportation leadership that maximize legal load limits
  • Benchmark best in class Transportation operations and launch innovative transportation initiatives to close performance gaps to maximize capacity and utilization of all transportation assets in order to reduce costs including continuous movements, stop off in transit, hot seating all equipment that is running equipment 20 hours per day and matching outbound finished goods and inbound raw material movements to minimize empty miles.
  • Meet budgeted cost and advice on capital requests related to transportation assets.
  • Ensure contingency policies/programs are in place with alternate service providers in order to ensure continuity of supply or address unexpected threats to supply chain fulfillment.
  • Evaluate, make business case and if needed deploy transportation management systems or enhancements that enhance on-time performance, visibility through event management, safety performance, and effective routing optimization enabling continuous movement and maximizing asset utilization for transportation network. 

Responsibilities Continued

  • Work cross functionally to ensure efficient and effective execution of Operating Unit and Supply Chain priorities and ensure alignment with senior leadership strategies through consistent and timely communications.  Consult with customers, warehouse sales center, planning, sales; production and suppliers in order to improve transportation performance, (e.g., direct ship, quality improvement).
  • Partners with leaders, employees, and multiple stakeholders to strengthen our safety culture and to develop policies and processes, specific to fleet safety, which protect our most important assets: our employees, our customers, our communities, our brands, and our power units. 
  • Staff, train, evaluate and develop team members.
  • Oversight and management of Production Warehouse & Inventory
  • Allocate necessary space for stock rotation.
  • Assist and maintain appropriate inventory levels and product loss control.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving functions as applicable.
  • Secure company assets.

Qualifications

Education 

  • Undergraduate Degree    
  • University degree in Logistics Management, Engineering or Business preferred.  
  • MBA or advanced degree a plus.

 

Experience 

  • At least 7 years    
  • Experience in the beverage/food or pharmaceutical industries strongly desired.
  • Must have experience in large scale transportation operations including multiple tiers of employees.
  • Experience managing in a collective bargaining agreement environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems.
  • Forklift certification a plus.
  • Previous experience managing supervisory level employees preferred.
