About This Opportunity

The Manager, Community is responsible for developing strategies and implementing plans that demonstrate how Coke Canada Bottling is Earning Our Social License to Operate, building our business responsibly and making our employees and stakeholders proud by making a positive difference in our Local Bottler communities. Reporting to the Director, Public Affairs, the Manager, Community will oversee the development and execution of annual plans that deliver on Coke Canada Bottling’s evolving community long range business plans. The Manager, Community is primarily responsible for analyzing, creating, evolving and managing tools and programs that support leaders in effectively delivering Your Local Bottler activities, overseeing day to day management of Coke Canada Bottling’s philanthropic activities (including policy development and maintenance), the creation and implementation of national community programs and partnerships and the development and release of Coke Canada’s annual corporate social responsibility report. The Manager, Community is accountable for the effective management of the Local Bottler Steerco routine. The position will effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operating Unit and Plant Management, employee engagement councils, directors of environmental sustainability and diversity, equity and inclusion, customer teams and the Local Bottler Steerco as well as the coordinator of Public Affairs and PAC team colleagues, to advance Coke Canada’s community activities. And they will tap into Coke Canada’s corporate routines and project management best practices to efficiently and effectively deliver projects on time and on budget.

Responsibilities

  • Support Coke Canada’s growth through effective development and execution of Your Local Bottler activities including annual planning that drives employee volunteerism and local stakeholder engagement, customer community programming, national corporate programs and partnerships, philanthropic donations and oversight of the Local Bottler Steerco.
  • Implement disaster response strategies to support Your Local Bottler communities affected by emergencies.
  • Regularly evaluate and develop recommendations for national programs and community partnerships, including all Coke Canada and Coke System Community activities.
  • Develop and maintain Coke Canada’s strategic community pillars (and train colleagues on them as necessary). 
  • Accountability for effectively managing Coke Canada’s community budgets.
  • Design initiatives that increase employee volunteerism (with a focus on frontline workers) through effective tools and programming, leveraging technology.
  • Lead development of the annual corporate social responsibility report.
  • Operationalize relationships with key stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to effectively implement all Your Local Bottler activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on Public Affairs Communication (PAC) team to launch annual Corporate Responsibility Report (CSR) report as well as ensure all resulting language is reflected in our owned channels.
  • Contribute to the success of PAC’s key metrics and overall communication values.
  • Develop and maintain core Coke Canada Your Local Bottler brand assets and narrative.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four-year degree (BBA or BA) with an interest in community relations, communications and/or business
  • 3+ years of relevant public affairs/community relations/communications experience (public sector, private sector or trade association) preferred.
  • Experience with project management of community programs with a deep understanding of government and industry principles/guidelines for donations programs.
  • Budget management experience mandatory.
  • French is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and strategic written communication skills are critical.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with persons at every level of operation at the Company.
  • Self-starter. Highly motivated individual with demonstrated initiative and attention to detail and proven project management skills.
