About This Opportunity

  This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced operations leader to further build and optimize a large supply chain operation. Reporting to the General Manager, the Distribution Centre Manager (DCM) will support the 80,000 sq ft. Edmonton Facility.  The DCM will support and lead the day to day operations managing 4 direct reports and 150 indirect reports.  Direct reports include the Warehouse Manager, Distribution Manager, Fleet Supervisor, and Equipment Service Supervisor. Additional responsibilities and opportunities are collaborating with Union leaders developing short/long term strategies as well play an integral role in discussions around innovations on operational optimization opportunities. Also responsible for the Lloydminister facility and equipment service team.

Responsibilities

•       Lead all logistics activities to ensure efficient operations of delivery, fleet, Equipment Service  and warehouse operations 
•       Deliver on imperatives for success through achievement of strong customer focus while achieving a world class cost structure 
•       Collaborate with union leaders to support on short and long term strategies  
         o    Complex relationship, need to develop relationship while holding to our policies & practices
•       Communication – Ensure company messaging is effectively communicated to all employees in a timely and consistent manner
•       Build a high performing Team with a solid foundation on integrity, accountability and an entrepreneurial mindset
         o    Inclusive of  – performance management, development & succession planning, recruitment, hiring & terminations, employee relations, labour relations (mediations and grievances)
         o    Develop a cohesive leadership team that values diversity, inclusion and strong team work built on effective communication  
•       Deliver on Customer Excellence through effective collaboration with Sales, Warehouse & Distribution 
•       Identify, plan and lead the execution of optimization initiatives working with key stakeholders, vendors and senior leaders  
•       Lead and support on change management initiatives  
•       Ensure all regulatory compliance standards and facility policies are reported on and achieved (OSHA/safety standards, DOT regulations, and EEOC guidelines)         
•       Ensures that all Corporate/NABU initiatives are implemented (OFS, etc.)      
•       Full P &L responsibility to meet OPEX budgets
•       Build a culture of excellence anchored on accountability and engagement 
•       Successfully create a vision and forward path for the facility through team engagement and a safety-first mindset 
 

Qualifications

•       10 years previous management experience in a large unionized operation preferred  
•       Experience leading teams through transformation and change
•       Strong influencing and people leadership skills required  
•       Ability to collaborate with and influence a large unionized workforce through a team of managers maintaining a positive & collaborative work environment  
•       Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience required  
•       Demonstrated experience collaborating with Union Leaders and fostering positive relationships  
•       Business acumen and solid presentation skills for multiple audiences from front line staff to senior / executive leaders  
•       Solid understanding of regulatory compliance standards and OSHA standards and experience tracking and reporting KPIs  
•       Previous experience with SAP an asset
